Welcome to My Artistic Journey

Hi, I'm Christine Osborne, an artist based in the suburbs of Ottawa

Though I’ve always had an interest in art, my journey didn’t officially begin until I took my first drawing class at 35. Since then, I’ve been learning, exploring, and finding joy in every new technique and discovery. I believe that anyone can learn to create art—all it takes is curiosity and the courage to try.

My work is deeply inspired by nature, especially the landscapes and details I encounter here in Canada. I strive to capture the beauty that surrounds me and present it with my own unique perspective.

As a Gen X, I’m also influenced by the pop culture I grew up with—Saturday morning cartoons, Tim Burton movies, and the grunge music era. These influences sneak into my art, particularly when I work from imagination.

I embrace a dual artistic style. In my paintings, I focus on realism, often using my own nature photography to inspire my work. However, when I shift to digital art, I enjoy playing with bold, cartoony designs that explore color and character in fun, unexpected ways.

Rather than choosing between these two styles, I’ve found a way to balance them through the help of my two avatars: "Rook", a playful cat, and "Corvus", a wise crow. They allow me to showcase both sides of my creativity in a way that’s fun and engaging. I invite you to join me on this journey as I share my love for art and the stories behind it.

Meet Rook and Corvus

Meet Rook and Corvus: My Creative Companions

As my art journey evolved, I found myself drawn to two distinct styles—one grounded in realism and the other full of whimsy and imagination. To help express these different sides of my creativity, I’ve enlisted the help of two very special companions: "Rook" and "Corvus**"

Rook, my playful cat avatar, embodies the fun and lighthearted side of my digital art. When you see Rook, you know you’re in for vibrant colors, quirky characters, and a touch of the unexpected. Rook represents my love for exploration, where the boundaries of creativity stretch, and imagination takes over.

On the other hand, Corvus the crow represents the more grounded, nature-inspired realism found in my paintings. Corvus is a symbol of wisdom and the natural world, and when you see him, you can expect artwork that brings nature to life on the canvas.

Together, Rook and Corvus allow me to balance both styles, ensuring that my creativity is always in motion. Whether you’re here for realistic nature scenes or playful digital designs, these two will guide you through my world of art.
